Activities:
After a 7:30 AM breakfast, begin your trek at 8:30 AM, starting with a gentle climb through rainforest glades. The trail soon opens into heathland, where you’ll spot unique alpine plants like giant lobelias and groundsels. Continue into open moorland with sweeping views and scattered shrubs, stopping for lunch halfway often with a stunning view of Mawenzi Peak. Arrive at Horombo Huts (3,720m) by mid-afternoon. From here, Kibo’s snow-capped summit comes into view. Unpack, rest and enjoy dinner around 7:00 PM. Bathrooms with running water are available. A rest or acclimatization day at Horombo Huts is recommended before this ascent for better adaptation to altitude.

Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Huts (3,720m).

Destination: Mount Kilimanjaro

Activities: Spending an extra day at Horombo Huts allows your body to better adjust to the altitude, significantly increasing your chances of a successful summit. After a relaxed breakfast, you can choose to rest at camp or take a scenic acclimatization hike towards Mawenzi Basecamp (approx. 4,400m), offering dramatic views of the rugged Mawenzi Peak and the vast alpine landscape. This short trek helps your body adapt gradually to the thinning air while giving you a chance to explore more of Kilimanjaro's high-altitude terrain. Return to Horombo for lunch and a restful afternoon. Use this time to hydrate, enjoy the mountain atmosphere, and prepare for the demanding days ahead.

Day 4: Horombo Huts (3,720m) to Kibo Huts (4,703m) – 6 to 7 Hours.

Destination: Mount Kilimanjaro

Activities:
After an early breakfast, begin your trek through the last stretches of heathland, gradually giving way to an alpine desert landscape. The trail ascends steadily toward the expansive saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo offering a stark, dramatic change in scenery. Pause for lunch en route while enjoying clear views of the looming Kibo summit. As you cross the wide, barren saddle, the air thins and temperatures drop, so pace yourself and stay alert for signs of altitude sickness. Arrive at Kibo Huts (4,703m) by late afternoon. Rest, hydrate, and prepare your gear for the midnight summit attempt. Note that there is no running water at Kibo Camp, and conditions are much colder here.

Accommodation: Kibo Huts

Day 5: Kibo Huts (4,703m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) & Descent to Horombo Huts (3,720m) – 12 to 14 Hrs.

Activities:
Begin your summit attempt around 1:00 AM after a light breakfast. Trek by headlamp up steep scree toward Gilman’s Point (5,861m), arriving by sunrise. Continue along the crater rim for about 2 hours to reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m)—Africa’s highest point. After taking in the views and photos, descend back to Kibo Huts for a short rest and lunch. Then continue down to Horombo Huts for dinner and a well-earned night’s sleep. This is the most challenging day cold, steep and long but incredibly rewarding. “Pole pole” (slowly, slowly) is the key.

your well-earned summit certificates. Take a moment to thank and tip your
